Today's bike tour in the front Palatinate started in Lambrecht in bright winter weather and blue sky. The participants took the S-Bahn to Neustadt on the Weinstrasse and moved to the regional train in Wachenheim on the Weinstraße. From there, the sporty bike tour through the picturesque landscape of the Mittelhaardt started.
The first goal was the flag tower, which is also lovingly called "coffee mixer". This two -storey tower, which is enthroned at a height of 224 m near Bad Dürkheim, is not only a popular landmark, but also offers a breathtaking view over the vineyards and the Rhine level. The flag tower, built in 1854, is made of sandstone in a neo -Gothic style and is visited by a variety of cyclists and hikers who want to enjoy the impressive panorama.

From the viewing platform of the flaggenturm, which can be reached via a right -wing spindle staircase and an outside platform, an impressive view extends in all directions. When the weather is clear, visitors can even look to the Taunus and the Great Feldberg. The three pointed arch windows on the ground floor of the tower symbolize the four seasons and give the building a special touch.
After a short break, the path continued to the Hardenburg, a historic castle ruin in Bad Dürkheim. Here the cyclists were able to visit the fortress and gain an insight into the eventful history of the region. The combination of sporting activity and nature experience shaped the entire tour, which passed the impressive places of the Palatinate.
