Volunteer couple inspires with 1,000 hikes in the Palatinate Forest!

Hans Schäfer was awarded for his extraordinary performance of 1000 hikes by the chairman Gunther Hilgert and the senior manager Horst Wiesen. The honor took place as part of a ceremony in which around 40 club members took part. Gunther Hilgert described Hans Schäfer as the most eager hiker in the group.

The couple Hans and Brigitte Schäfer has been a member of the Obermoschel local group of the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV) since February 16, 1976. While Hans Schäfer was the first member of 50 years to reach the number of 1,000 hikes, Brigitte Schäfer has already completed 900 hikes. Both received the PWV medals in gold for their services and were also involved in preparing for hiking tours, working on the clubhouse and the labeling of hiking trails.

At the ceremony, many anecdotes and joint experiences of the past few years were shared. In addition to the awards, a new election of the board members also took place. Gunther Hilgert was elected as the new chairman of the PWV local group, while Traudel Kuntz now acts as his deputy. Stephanie Eid will work as a secretary and Birgit Farken takes on the role of the computer. Albert Gillmann, Elke Walter and Hans Kuntz were elected as assessors. Herbert Schwarz is deployed as a hiking manager while Horst meadows about the seniors.
