Alarm in Worms: Fake recipes for weight loss injections increase!
In the Worms region, pharmacies report on an increase in fake cash register recipes, especially for weight loss injections such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro. These drugs, which are known for their effects in weight reduction, are not available for everyone and can be very expensive. The unknown perpetrators submitted fake recipes in at least four pharmacies in Worms, with the medication output in two cases. The local police then published a warning letter to all pharmacies to draw attention to the problem.
The counterfeits concern both the prescriptions and the patient data on the recipes. Similar incidents were also reported in Mainz and Landau. The police in Worms suspect that the perpetrators do not come from Rhineland-Palatinate. The pharmacist Marc Muchow from Bad Kreuznach describes that he is often confronted with counterfeits in his branches. It is assumed that the perpetrators act nationally, since counterfeits often occur in several pharmacies at the same time.
warnings of the health insurance companies
In this context, AOK Nordost reported that at least every tenth recipe was fake in the first quarter of 2024. In addition to Ozempic, the medication concerned also includes Trulicity, Mounjaro and Tilidin. The pharmacies are therefore encouraged to carefully check the regulations, since negligent billing of fake recipes can lead to retaxations. The fake recipes have already caused financial damage in the six -figure area for the AOK Nordost, whereby the health insurance company is threatened with a minor damage. Ralf Selle, misconduct officer of the AOK Nordost, describes the situation as extraordinary. In addition, the high number of unreported cases of fake recipes is pointed out, since well -made counterfeits are often difficult to recognize.
