Car in Bad Kreuznach burns: fire brigade in large -scale use!

On February 9, 2025 at around 3 p.m., the Bad Kreuznach volunteer fire brigade was alerted after a driver discovered a fire on her vehicle. The incident occurred on a customer parking lot on Schwabenheimer Weg. The driver noticed the fire after returning to her car. During the examination, she found that the interior of the vehicle was heavily smoked and the windshield had a crack due to the high temperatures.

To extinguish the fire, the emergency services had to improvise. Since the door of the vehicle could not be opened with the remote control, the fire brigade destroyed the side window of the driver's door. A fireman, equipped with respiratory protection, went inside the vehicle and extinguished the smoking dashboard. The smoke gradually pulled through the open driver window, while the fire brigade took care of further measures for fire fighting.

challenges and measures of the fire brigade

A central problem during the operation was that the doors of the vehicle could not be opened mechanically from the inside. The driver's husband then brought an emergency key with him to open the doors and the bonnet without violence. This was necessary because the vehicle first had to be switched without it to capture the risk of an electrical short circuit.

similarly critical situations are often discussed in fire protection practice. Fire fighting in modern electric vehicles in particular presents the emergency services with special challenges. Information on these specific requirements is compiled, among other things, in a document of the German statutory accident insurance, which indicates the dangers and necessary safety measures in fires of electric vehicles (DGUV) .

Such incidents show how important it is that firefighters are well prepared for the specific risks of modern vehicle technologies. The fire could finally be deleted, but the car had to be towed.
