Community sister plus: strong program for seniors in the district of Neuwied
The "Community Sister Plus" program is expanded throughout the district of Neuwied. This decision was announced in a recently published press release on February 14, 2025. The expansion takes place in close cooperation between the municipalities, the city of Neuwied and the district of Neuwied. District Administrator Achim Hallerbach and 1. District member Phillip Rasbach expressed a positive statement about the measures that aim to improve the quality of life of older people.
The mayors of the associations are Manuel Seiler, Peter Jung, Hans-Werner Breithausen, Volker Mendel, Frank Becker, Jan Ermtraud, Franz Peter Dahl, Michael Christ and Karsten Fehr. The initiative to support older people who are not in need of care is particularly promoted by Birgit Boos, which has been employed as a municipal sister plus since January 1, 2025.
support for older people
The program is aimed at the very old people who live at home and occasionally need help. The main goal is to support seniors to live healthy and independently. The municipal sister plus offers advice and provides contacts to leisure activities and neighborhood aids. If you have any questions about care, direct contact with the local care support points is established.
The program specialists do not carry out nursing activities, but rely on prevention and health promotion. The focus is on strengthening independence and the imparting of information on support offers. Birgit Boos is responsible for the entire district of Neuwied until January 1, 2025 and can be contacted via various channels. Your phone number is 02631 803-499, and it can be reached by email at birgit.boos@kreis-neuwied.de
Financial support and job offers
Personnel costs for the program are borne proportionately by the institutions involved, while the state of Rhineland-Palatinate promotes 1.5 jobs. Overall, 2.5 jobs are provided for the preventive work, which can ensure effective support and advice for the target group.
The increasing interest in health promotion and prevention in old age is more urgent than ever, since demographic developments underline the need for such programs. Effective interventions must be tailor -made and specifically designed for the needs of older people. The objective is clear: to counteract diseases, need for care and other health problems and to improve the quality of life sustainably. Relevant topics in this context include health, illness and demographic change, which is becoming more and more present in our society.
