Fit and active in old age: New series of events in the Rhein-Hunsrück district!
in the Rhein-Hunsrück district starts on Friday, May 9th, a new project series that is under the motto "Active and fit for body and soul". The target group are seniors and their relatives, senior citizens' officers and helpers. The initiative will be managed by Rachida Hänsch, a community sister plus, and Lina Weinheimer from the "Land in motion" initiative. These monthly offers aim to promote the physical activity and quality of life of older people and to reduce loneliness, which is an increasingly pressing challenge.
The concept of the events includes various topics that are crucial for the well -being of seniors. This includes healthy eating in old age, mobility, attitude, mental fitness and the prevention of diseases such as diabetes. A central component of the initiative is the personal exchange and networking of the participants. Rachida Hänsch created the concept and the implementation is carried out in cooperation with the Simmern nursing base and Annette Klockner from the Damscheid nursing base.
Various offers for promoting health
It is of great importance for seniors to remain active in order to promote both the physical and intellectual well -being. According to a study by the Institut ethnomed it is important to discover new hobbies and activities in order to maintain social contacts. The recommended physical activities include walking, yoga, swimming and cycling.mental challenges are just as important. Crossword or board games can help keep the brain actively. Creative activities such as painting or music also play a role in mental health. These aspects are taken into account in the courses in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in order to enable a comprehensive feel-good experience.

The initiative is supplemented by findings from the health study "Health 65+", which will be carried out by 2024. This study, which is supported by Federal Ministry of Health , focuses on special health issues for older people. Influence factors such as loneliness, social support and eating habits are also examined.
The results of these studies are crucial for the future planning of health promotion measures. This ensures that offers such as those in the Rhein-Hunsrück district are tailored to the needs of the older population and the participants can extensively benefit.
