Inclusion for everyone: Lebenshilfe takes over nearby and creates jobs!
On March 29, 2025, a significant step to promote inclusion and employment in the Bad Kreuznach region was announced. The Lebenshilfe opportunities center takes over the operation of the Hutentental ferry and the pedal boat rental. The aim of this inclusive project is to offer both people with and without disabilities in the area of ticket sales, maintenance of the boats and the accompaniment of the guests on the ferry. The signing of the contract was celebrated by Markus Schlosser, the city's deputy.
Andreas Neumann, a spokesman for the project, emphasized the essential role that the ferry plays for the region. The importance of inclusion in everyday life is particularly noteworthy. The takeover is intended to create jobs that use and promote individual talents of the employees. The ferry remains open to visitors and the pedal boats will continue to be offered. The ferry season starts at the beginning of April, which should delight both locals and tourists.
support from the community
The project finds broad support in the community. Mayor Birgit Ensminger-Busse expressly welcomed the initiative of the Lebenshilfe Opportunities Center. This support is significant, especially since Hans-Joachim "Hajo" Gellweiler, who led the previous management until his retirement in October 2022, is no longer available. In addition, the city council voted in November to award the lease to the Lebenshilfe Opportunity Center, which is a decisive step for the implementation.
The opening of the new ferry season is seen as an opportunity to integrate the community and make the project known. The invited citizens should try out the new offers and experience the inclusive philosophy of the Lebenshilfe opportunities.
inclusion in the world of work
In parallel to these developments, a second meeting of the round table work (RTA) took place in the Lebenshilfe opportunities center on January 9th. The aim was to bring regional institutions together and to discuss the topics of integration and inclusion of people with restrictions. Maria Goldhammer from the training academy of the economy pointed out the increasing need to facilitate access to jobs, especially against the background of the shortage of skilled workers.Diana Michel from the IHK Koblenz emphasized the role of inclusion as an integral part of securing skilled workers. An information platform for people with restrictions is intended to specifically address this target group as potential for skilled workers. Other initiatives, such as a competition for the inclusion for companies and the idea of an inclusive job fair in Bad Kreuznach, were also presented. This fair is planned for the model of a successful event in Regensburg.
The employment agency suggested that the trade fair to implement the fair. An open day in the Lebenshilfe Opportunity Center on May 17 is also to be used to invite potential interested parties for the fair. These measures make an important contribution to securing skilled workers and promoting inclusion in the region. Further information can be obtained directly from the RTA organizers.
