Klimaforum Langenlonsheim fights for the preservation of the crop lizard!

In Langenlonsheim, an area was created in the new development area Kinsheck to relocate fence lizards. This important measure comes into focus, after illegal deposits of green struts and building remains when the lizard protection area was committed. The members of the Langenlonsheim Climate Counter, who have looked after the area since their creation, want to draw attention to the sensitivity of the area.

In order to promote the preservation of biodiversity, the members of the climate gate actively campaign for the care of the lizard settlement area. In recent years, eight actions have been carried out to support the biodiversity. A sign that calls for the lizards and the environmental sector was set up last year. It is hoped that the illegal deposits will decrease in the future and that the polluters use the green section in Langenlonsheim instead.

environmental awareness and responsibility

The members of the initiative are open to new ideas and support. This willingness to cooperate shows how important a community approach is in the event of environmental issues. The preservation of non -productive areas in the vineyard region and the location is sought to convert them into sustainable areas to promote biodiversity.

According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the efforts to protect such areas are not only in Langenlonsheim, but worldwide in the context of a larger environmental protection. Around 17 percent of the land area and 8 percent of the oceans are protected worldwide, with the total area of the protected areas quadrupled to over 50 million square kilometers since 1990. These protected areas are not only crucial for the preservation of biodiversity, but also for the protection of ecosystems that store around 20 percent of the carbon bound by land.

The experiences from Langenlonsheim show that the protection of nature is against universal challenges. The establishment and maintenance of protected areas is a global task that also requires local initiatives such as those of the climate gate. These networks are crucial to maintain biodiversity and promote sustainable habitats. It is to be hoped that similar initiatives in other regions continue to focus on and that the responsible use of nature also becomes the rule in Langenlonsheim.

The path to more environmental awareness and protection of species is still long, but the efforts so far give rise to hope. Cooperation at the local level can be a model for other communities that also fight for the preservation of their natural habitats.
