Refurbishment of the historical graduation works: Bad Kreuznach invests 1.2 million euros!
in Bad Kreuznach is currently being worked on the renovation of the city's largest graduation work. Health and tourism for Bad Kreuznach GmbH (good) is responsible for the extensive renovation work on behalf of the city. The graduation tower, which has an impressive length of 320 meters and a height of 9 meters, connects the salin bath with the sports facilities. After over 15 years, renewal of the thorns and the structure at a total of 640 meters is urgently required to maintain the historical structures. Allgemeine Zeitung reports that the south side of the graduation work was completely restored last year.
Now the work focuses on the third section, which includes a length of 120 meters, where the new thorns are currently being installed. Over 9,000 black thorn bundles are used for the sprinkling walls, which are installed by a specialist company from Poland within two weeks. The cost of this section amounts to around 300,000 euros. Constructive changes to the structure include the use of Douglasienholz to extend the durability of the construction. The complete renovation of the graduation work should be completed by the beginning of 2026, whereby the total costs will be around 1.2 million euros over several years.
renovation measures in the Salinental and Kurpark
The renovation work does not only extend over the main graduate work. Another focus is on Gradierwerke 4 and 9 in the Kurpark of Bad Münster am Stein, where the work started two years ago and are said to be completed by the end of March 2024. In addition to the installation of new struts, the penetrations in the floor slab are also sealed here. Costs of around 300,000 euros are planned for the final section of the graduation work 9. Bad Kreuznach emphasizes that numerous thorn bundles in handwork in the manual work Wooden frames are installed.
In addition, the load -bearing slatted scaffolds are completely renewed at 160 meters in length at the long graduation work in the Salinental, which has the longest route at 320 meters. This requires the delivery of 32,000 thorn bundles, which are imported especially from Poland. The cost of this work in the Salinental amounts to 450,000 euros, and the renovations run until after Easter 2024. The thorns must be ordered in November of the previous year and then harvested in the first months of the year to be available in time for the season.
Cultural heritage and securing future
The graduation works in Bad Kreuznach are not only architectural peculiarities, but also of great importance for health and tourism in the region. Originally built in the 18th century for salt extraction, today they act as natural inhalation systems. Here, salt -containing water is led over the thorn walls, which generates salt -containing air that can promote the respiratory tract of the visitors. BYC-NEWS emphasized that the numerous degree eggs in need of renovation must be subjected to care every 15 years in order to obtain their functionality and historical value.
The total of nine graduation plants in the Salinental are part of an ensemble with a total length of 1,250 meters, with six of the facilities standing directly in the Salinental. This shows the importance of these historical sites, which are to be preserved for future generations. The ongoing renovation projects are therefore a necessary step to maintain the cultural and health benefits of the graduation works for the next few years.
