New Year's Eve: Dogs in panic - animal protection association demands ban on firecrackers!

The Bad Kreuznach animal shelter experienced a worrying situation for its animal residents on New Year's Eve. Around 20 dogs housed in the animal shelter suffered significantly from the stress that the fireworks triggered. Animal shelter employees are aware of the dangers that arise from the bang, since about half of the dogs are very afraid and barks incessantly. Older dogs in particular retired to their kennels and tried to hide, partially injured.

In order to minimize the risk of injuries, the cages in the shelter were vacated empty before New Year's Eve. On New Year's Eve, the dogs only got their feeding in the morning to avoid vomiting during the night. Other animals, such as cats and small animals, were also affected, but pressed silently in the corners instead of showing their malaise loudly. Many of the dogs recorded in the shelter come from poor posture, which means that trust in people has to be laboriously built up.

serious consequences and demands

After New Year's Eve, the dogs often lose their feeling of security. Tragically, there was a serious incident on the said night: a dog died after walking onto the street in panic and was ran over. A large Pyreneeshound also tore out, but could not be captured. Jens Strube, a representative of the animal welfare association, expressed the urgent request after a ban on firecrackers near animal shelters, zoo and zoos. In addition, the animal protection association asked the police for reinforced stripes during New Year's Eve to better protect the animals. Fortunately, New Year's Eve this year was somewhat quieter than in the past few years, as reported on

The Bad Kreuznach animal shelter is also active in the mediation of dogs, cats and small animals and informs about the company holidays and the new opening hours on its website. From Monday to Friday, they go both telephone times and visiting times on selected days. During the company holidays that last from December 22, 2024 to January 2, 2025, there are no walkers, cat whisper or visiting times. This is explained in detail on the official website of the animal shelter at Tierheim-bad-kreuznach.de
