On February 26, 2025, travelers in the region face several challenges in train traffic. Construction work between Heimbach and Baumholder leads to train failures, which particularly affect the RB 34 regional railway line between Idar-Oberstein and Baumholder. According to Antenne KH , the Zweckverband ÖPNV Rheinland-Pfalz Süd has already announced corresponding restrictions.

To support travelers, a rail replacement (SEV) was set up by bus. This traffic drives every hour and connects the towns of Idar-Oberstein, Kronweiler, Nohen, Heimbach, Ruschberg and Baumholder. In Idar-Oberstein, travelers also have the opportunity to find connection to the regional railway line RB 33 to Mainz and on the RE 3 towards Saarbrücken.
