Pilgrimage to Walldürn: Review of an impressive pilgrim year!

On March 6, 2025, the anticipation for the Responsible Day of the Walldürnwall drivers will be particularly large. This will take place on Sunday, March 16, 2025, for the second time at the Frauenberg in Fulda. The event is organized by the pilgrimage management of the Fulda Eichsfeld-Feld-Walldürnwallfahrt and is an important part of the preparation for the pilgrimage to Walldürn.

The retreat begins at 2 p.m. with a Way of the Cross from the pilgrimage book, followed by a presentation by the speaker Father Cornelius Bohl, OFM, from Fulda. A special highlight of the day will be the invitation to coffee and cake in the reserved Café Flora, where the participants can strengthen themselves. The refreshration day finds its ceremonial conclusion with a Eucharist at 4:45 p.m. in the monastery church, which is musically designed by the Walldürnusikers. Registration is not necessary, and former co -piling is particularly welcome to maintain and experience the community.

pilgrimage to Walldürn

The pilgrimage to Walldürn, which attracts numerous pilgrims in 2025, is becoming increasingly popular. Last year, 488 pilgrims reached the pilgrimage site of Walldürn after four and a half days. Among them was Bishop Dr. Michael Gerber, who accompanied the pilgrims from Hardheim. The reception on the outskirts of Walldürn was received by Father Josef Bregula and other priests.

A central element of the pilgrimage was the celebration of the Eucharist after the five-wound prayer in front of the altar. Bishop Gerber vividly spoke about a linen cloth that is connected to Christ's blood, and described it as an Easter sign and testimony for faith. The pilgrims, who came from Baunatal, Küllstedt, Fulda and Lower Franconia, covered up to 280 kilometers on foot and experienced personal “Jesus moments” during their pilgrimage, as the bishop expressed it.

community and honors

The honor of long -standing pilgrims is particularly noteworthy during the celebration. The musical design of the service took over 36 Walldürn musicians under the direction of Michael Edelmann and Georg Bahr. The following jubilees were honored for the 25- and 40-time participation in the pilgrimage:

25 years 40 years

dominic hess Bernd Paul
Pastor Heribert Jünemann Werner Schräder

The daily sacred trade fairs in Oberleichtersbach, Gauaschach and Greußenheim as well as alternating petition prayers, meditations and prayers from the pilgrimage book enrich the pilgrimage experience. Every day of pilgrimage ended with an evening prayer and the sacramental blessing, which supports the deep spiritual experiences of the pilgrims.

The numerous encounters and the hospitality of the communities that masturbated and provided pilgrims are also of great importance for the community of pilgrims. The pilgrimages to Walldürn are not only appreciated as a religious practice, but also as social events that combine people over distances and strengthen the feeling of belonging.
