Rotary Club supports Friedensmuseum with 1,000 euros for education!

The Rotary Club Remagen-Sinzig recently presented a donation of 1,000 euros to the Friedensmuseum Brücke of Remagen. This generous support is used to acquire an IT station in the so-called "peace room", which should enable young people to interactive dealing with the history of the bridge and the subjects of peace. The donation was handed over to a solemn framework and was carried out by the President of the Rotary Club, Julia Steffenfausweh, and other members of the club. This gesture underlines the commitment of the Rotary Club for the promotion of education and memorials that are important for younger generations.

In her speech,

Steffenfausweh emphasized the importance of support for the Peace Museum and the history of the bridge of Remagen, especially in 2023, the 80th anniversary of the conquest of the bridge through the US army. The handover of the donation itself took place after a lecture by Barbara Heimbach on the work of the museum. In this lecture, the present was given a deeper insight into the important role of the bridge in the history of the Second World War.

education and culture of remembrance

After the lecture, Kay foam spoon led the visitors through the museum. He clearly explained the history of the bridge and its influence on local and international peace efforts. The support of the Rotary Club aims to secure the Peace Museum as an important educational and memorial. This is particularly important at a time when younger generations should increasingly recognize the importance of historical events to promote peace and understanding.

The Friedensmuseum Brücke of Remagen is in a long tradition of peace promotion, which is also shaped by Rotary International. This organization was founded in 1914 and has campaigned for peace from the start. In 1921, the goal of promoting international peace and goodwill was anchored in the constitution of the Rotary movement. During the Second World War, Rotary was actively involved in promoting human rights and increasing consciousness for freedom and justice.

In the years since then, Rotary has continuously tried to create an environment through sustainable and measurable activities in which peace is promoted. Among other things, Rotary Peace Centers were established that support scholarship holders who study at universities in renowned peace programs.

The initiative of the Rotary Club Remagen-Sinzig to contribute to the formation of young people in relation to peace issues is another step in this long history of commitment to peace. With the new EDP station, the Peace Museum will offer an even more valuable resource for future generations to learn the Lessons of History and appreciate the importance of peace.
