New special -purpose association for sewage slow disposal: a step into the future!
In the municipality of Birkenfeld, an important decision was made today: The local council unanimously decided to join a special -purpose association for sewage sludge. This is intended to find a sustainable and effective solution for the sewage sludge problem. The founding assembly of this special association is planned for May 6th in the council hall in Würzburg, as Main-echo.de
The municipal sewage treatment plants in Bavaria produced around 5.5 million tons of sewage sludge in 2022, which corresponds to a dry mass share of around 274,200 tons. Despite the expansion of numerous sewage treatment plants, the amount of sewage sludge generated remained constant in the past decade. A clear tendency towards thermal treatment is evident in dealing with these waste products: 85.7 percent of the sewage sludge were used thermally in 2022, compared to 57.1 percent in 2012. This development is due to the novella of the waste and sewage sludge regulation, which has been in force since October 3, 2017, and the strict rules for the sewage slope are included, reports stmuv.bayern.de .
traffic restrictions and sports funding
During the session, current traffic safety measures were also informed. The local council decided to have a traffic restriction to 5.5 tons in the area of the Grummibach. This measure represents a reaction to repeated damage to a railing on the economic path. Exceptions for agricultural and forestry traffic are planned. The regulatory office and the Marktheidenfeld police inspection support this initiative.
Another positive decision concerns the support of the Birkenfeld sports club. The municipal council has decided to provide the association a voluntary grant of 5,091.74 euros for the water fees of the sports field irrigation in 2024.
postal services and private property
In addition, the closure of the postal service offer in the former “Zimmermann’s village shop” was discussed. Alternatively, Deutsche Post has offered the establishment of a DHL post station in Langgasse. The municipal council would like to wait until July 1st whether a suitable subsequent tenant is found for the former post office.
Mayor Achim Müller also reported “Am Gründlein II” development work. In addition, the topic of the old and damaged fences in the private forest was addressed, the distance of which is considered necessary because they could be a risk of injury for humans and animals. The administrative community will inform the owners in writing about this situation.
Overall, the course of the meeting shows that the municipality of Birkenfeld is actively working on improving its infrastructure and environmental responsibility. The developments in sewage sludge recycling and the measures for traffic safety and support for sport are essential steps in this direction.
