Record number with Birkenfeld: Raise: Cyclists from the region flock!
On May 1, 2025, the 21st Birkenfeld residents of SV Werra 07 Hildburghausen took place in cooperation with the Rodachtal initiative. A new record was recorded with around 165 participating cyclists. The participants traveled from different locations, including Hildburghausen, Coburg and the around the ice field. This event emphasizes the importance of cycling and regional exchange.
The Birkenfeld traditional club Stirnberg also celebrated the start of his 24th bakery season. Around 70 large sheets with hearty dishes and numerous cakes took care of the physical well -being, supplemented by an ice cream truck and a fried sausage stand. The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) SUHL took the opportunity to offer a bicycle coding, whereby 17 bicycles were registered and encoded. Cyclists could choose between two different tours: a 25 km round route and a 12 km short tour.
Various offer for young and old
The event was particularly family -friendly through a small round of village, in which children could also take part. They also had the opportunity to play in the Kreissportbund's game mobile. The local political prominence, including Dirk Lindner, the deputy district administrator, and Patrick Hammerschmidt, the mayor of Hildburghausen, welcomed the guests and praised the great appeal of the event.
Michael Reichardt, spokesman for SV Werra 07, underlined the importance of preparation and support from the Rodachtal initiative. This is viewed and promoted as a central link between Thuringia and Bavaria not only cycling, but also other activities such as hiking and visiting medieval cities.
The Rodachtal region: A paradise for cyclists
The Rodachtal region, both in Bavaria and in Thuringia, is known for its well -developed network of cycle paths. These include long-distance cycle paths such as the Franconian Saale-Rodachtal and the Werra-Obermain cycle path, which connects the Werra in South Thuringia with the Main in Bavaria with a length of 60 km. These routes are low in traffic and natural, ideal for leisure and tour cyclists.
In addition to cycling, the region also offers impressive views of the Veste Coburg, the Thuringian Forest, the same mountains and the Rhön. The Rodachtal initiative promotes the discovery of nature and culture and invites you to enjoy regional cuisine and hospitality. With around 125 themed routes and a total route of around 9,000 km, it offers extensive information on height profiles and sights. All routes can also be called up online and can be planned by means of a special routing app. The Bavaria Netz for Radler ensures that cyclists are managed safely and informatively through the region.
