The Sinsheim adventure region once again presents itself with its cultural treasures. Regional highlights and insider tips are presented every two weeks, and today the focus is on the local museum Hoffenheim and the Willi-Heinlein description machine museum. Both facilities offer unique insights into the history and development of the region.
The Heimatmuseum Hoffenheim, which is located in the historic building of the "Alte Post" from 1901, is committed to the representation of rural life, living and business in Hoffenheim in the 19th century. The exhibitions in the museum include a variety of everyday objects and historical exhibits. Visitors can visit a fully equipped kitchen from around 1900, the living room of the Posthalter Lisa Dahlem and a rural bedroom at the turn of the century.

In addition, there is a children's room, a craft room with insights into the craft of carpenters, tailors and bakers as well as a collection of carpentry tools and iron. A remarkable attraction is the functional loom from 1780. Historical flags and weapons complement the collection. Particularly noteworthy is the decorated courtyard, which is equipped with a rural field device and tools and is well suited for events.
The exhibits also include documents on the creation of the Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim as well as pictures that show the change of the village, old buildings, people and festivals. The local museum opens its goals every first Sunday of the month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, group tours outside the regular opening times are possible after prior registration. Admission is free.
A look at the typewriter story
In the nearby Willi-Heinlein description machine museum, visitors can expect an impressive collection of almost 300 well-preserved and functional typewriter. The exhibits range from the first wooden machine of the inventor Peter Mitterhofer to the digital computer world and also include a department with historical arithmetic machines, from abacus to electromechanical machines. This museum is an absolute must for those interested in technology and history.
