Chaos on the streets: chase and knife attack on weekends!
The weekend from April 11th to 14th, 2025, the Trier police inspection recorded a high frequency of operations with a total of 155 operating events. Among them were 38 criminal complaints and 24 traffic accidents, which illustrate how important the security work of the police in the region is. Just one day after the last assignment, on April 14th, the details of two particularly remarkable incidents appeared, which underline that dealing with petty crafts urgently needs attention.
The first incident occurred on April 11, 2025 at around 6:00 p.m. in the street on the Weismark. Here the officers noticed two petty crafts, one of whom was traveling without a valid insurance license plate. The driver of the inadmissible vehicle fled at a speed of 50-60 km/h, despite the request for stopping. The escape led him over several streets in the area and ended at the driveway to the B268. There he was discovered in Estrich and tried to flee again. Ultimately, however, he could be recorded by police officers and attentive passers -by. It turned out that the driver was without a driver's license and had a negative breath alcohol test, which is why he was released after the facts.

statistics and urgent measures
In 2018, 14,683 accidents with small crafts were registered in Germany, in which 78 people were killed and 2,879 were seriously injured. The statistics are alarming: the risk of dying on a small skate is about six times higher than in the car. Over 85%of these accidents are in town, often due to driving accidents (43.5%) and longitudinal accidents (18.2%). Young people and seniors are particularly at risk, while alcoholized travelers aged 55 and over are involved in 6% of cases. Defects in traffic education were also found, and it is important to start here.
The previously inadequate security measures towards responsible driving with small crafts must be supplemented by targeted reconnaissance campaigns and increased traffic controls. A revision of the training content in driving school training also seems necessary. It is sought that young people from 15 years of age can lead to small crafts. These changes could help prevent future accidents and increase the safety in road traffic.
