Carnival fever in Stadtallendorf: A colorful evening full of highlights!

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the 55th Kolping Fasenacht took place in the Stadtallendorf town hall, which attracted over 400 colorful guests. The event, which began at 7:33 p.m., offered a diverse program with musical performances, Schunkel rounds and dances, which encouraged the present to be loud applause and the triple "Helau" for the stage appearances. Johannes Schmitt, who acted as session president, provided a successful evening and awarded the former session president Birgit Schmitt an order for her merits. Engrades were particularly challenged for the dances of the garden, namely Loredana shepherd, who appeared as dance marie.

The program maintained the guests until shortly before 11 p.m. and culminated in an after-show party that lasted until late at night. Humoristic contributions consisting of speeches, rhymes and Kalauer, created laughter and a good atmosphere among the fools. Among the guests was Otmar Bonacker from the CDU, which expressed positive feedback on the event.

carnival and carnival in context

The Kolping Fasenacht is part of a long carnival tradition in Germany, which takes different forms in different regions. While in Catholic areas such as the Rhineland, Swabia and Hesse Carnival has been celebrated for centuries, popularity has only developed in Protestant areas in the past 30 years. Carnival is often shaped by disguises, songs and celebrations, whereby in many places, as the Cologne Rosenmontagszug shows, exceptional states occur when the "jokes" fill the streets.

The roots of the carnival are deeply rooted in antique festivities that were celebrated in honor of Dionysos and Saturnus. In addition to celebrating together, the focus is also on the mighty and the cancellation of class differences. Costumes that are often handmade and inherited over generations play a central role in the celebrations.

special highlights of the events

In another event, Prince Thomas I. with Princess Sandra II (Torbecke) took over the rule in the Kolping Carnival Club (KKC) Hollage. Mayor Otto Steinkamp presented them with the town hall key, which gave them responsibility for the municipal government transactions until Veilchendienstag. Prince Thomas maintained the present with a musical speech on the melody of "Johnny B. Goode" and introduced his "sweet mouse" Sandra while promised to know the town hall key in good hands.

The event of the KKC was under the motto "With petticoat and rock’ n 'roll we get going ", followed by an extensive stage program with the presentation of legendary classics by Thomas and his co-moderators. The humorous appearance of Ette (Egbert Brede) with his hand puppet Gustav and the contributions to current topics such as the new citizens' bus line also ensured an entertaining evening.

The Fasenacht in Stadtallendorf and the events in the KKC illustrate the diversity and community spirit that is rooted in the carnival traditions and show how important such events are for social interaction and local culture.
