The Sternsinger have an important message: they are committed to the rights of children and want to draw attention to the difficult living conditions for many young people. In a recent opening service, Archbishop Bentz emphasized the challenging location of many children worldwide in the Paderborn Cathedral. Children experience war and violence in numerous countries, and they often lacked dignity and the opportunities to shape their lives.

The president of the children's mission “Die Sternsinger”, Pastor Dirk Bingener, emphasized the commitment of the Sternsinger and called for a special consideration of children's rights in the church. The number speaks for itself: 250 million children worldwide, especially girls, do not go to school, and 160 million children have to work under often exploitial conditions.
