Rock am Ring: 30 years of festival history - your best memories wanted!

On May 9, 2025, a very special anniversary is just around the corner: Rock am Ring celebrates its 30th birthday. This legendary music festival, which takes place annually at the Nürburgring, has developed into one of the largest events of its kind in Germany since its premiere in 1985 with only 17 bands and 75,000 visitors. In the early years, large rock legends such as U2, Joe Cocker and Marius Müller-Westernhagen performed. Even today, the festival is a success story and attracts up to 90,000 music enthusiasts every year, who can look forward to three festival days and more than 100 artists on several stages, reports the Rheinpfalz .

To celebrate the anniversary, Rock am Ring and the sister festival Rock im Park, which has been taking place in parallel since 1993, will be held from June 6th to 8th, 2025. While Rock am Ring takes place on the Nürburgring, Rock im Park in the Zeppelinfeld is celebrated in Nuremberg. Advance sales for tickets is a great success. Over 70,000 Weekend tickets for Rock am Ring and more than 50,000 for rock in the park have been sold. Some camping categories are already scarce or even sold out. So far, around 70 of the planned 100 acts of the second band wave have been confirmed for the festival. This includes top -class artists such as The Prodigy, Rise Against and in Flames, which further increases the anticipation for the festival.
