Beer garden season on the Rhine: enjoyment and conviviality in Germersheim!
The beer garden season on the Rheinvorland in Germersheim started on April 8, 2025 with great expectations. Patrick Barth, the operator, has again taken over the city's gastronomic offer, which has become a permanent institution in the region in recent years. The opening represents a further step in the support of the gastronomy during the special challenges of recent years.
The beer garden, which is located on the large section of the meadow directly on the Rhine, offers a wide range of food and drinks. These include grill specialties, traditional liver dumplings, sausage salads, fresh salads, tarte flambée and various coffee and cake specialties. In addition, seasonal quality wines, cocktails and non -alcoholic drinks were added to round off the offer. The size of the opening times is remarkable: Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 10:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 10:30 a.m.
a new attraction for the community
Mayor Marcus Schaile emphasized the positive response of the concept, which is not only the residents, but also for tourists. The opening gives people in the region a new point of contact, especially for cyclists and pedestrians who are traveling along the Rhine cycle path. The beer garden has developed as an important meeting point, especially during the Corona pandemic and is now attracting a steadily growing regular audience.
Barth plans to realize a covered and wind-protected lounge corner in order to offer the guests an even more comfortable experience. This season, a weekly changing dish will also be included in the menu, which has not been possible in recent years due to delivery difficulties.
diverse gastronomic offer
In addition to the beer garden, there are other gastronomic options in the area, including the "Café Zum Ziegelei" by Kimete Kuqi and the "Rasthaus Ziegelei" by Ralf Klemm. Both restaurants offer an equally wide range of menu and a wonderful view of the Rhine. The café is open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The rest house opens its doors every day from 11:30 a.m.
Another gastronomic offer in the area is the restaurant "Rhenania" on the Rheinvorland. In addition, the city announced the planned reopening of the former “Father Rhein” inn for extensive renovations.
The city of Germersheim thus shows its plan to improve the infrastructure of the Leinpfad and create attractive leisure opportunities on the Rhine, which not only benefits the citizens, but also pulls tourists into the region.
