history of the music association

In 1938 the Musikverein organized the 4th Haardt Association Music Festival and founded the first youth band. The trial operation had to be stopped in 1939 because of the Second World War. The Allied military government forced all clubs to dissolve in 1945; The music association was reactivated in 1949, chaired by Ludwig Ingenthron I and August Kuntz, temporarily took over the conductor.

The association became a member of the Southwest German Music Association of North Baden in 1950 and celebrated its 25th anniversary the following year. In 1954 there was an advertising music festival at Dammschulplatz, in which Ludwig Ingenthron II was elected as the new chairman. During 1955 to 1961 Kurt Bilizza held the conductor position, and in 1962 a new youth band was founded with 40 musicians. In 1970 and 1973 there were other major milestones, including the foundation of an additional youth band and the first entertainment evening in the new festival and cultural hall.

Over the years, the Musikverein Edelweiß Wörth has organized numerous other events and committed significant celebrations. Current activities and offers include an active chapel with 28 musicians, a youth orchestra with 15 musicians and a recorder school. The association currently has around 300 members.

In 2013, the Musikverein Edelweiß celebrated its 90th anniversary with a number of public appearances. The celebrations announced on the club website included great wind music performances in the market town and reflect the positive development of the association that has taken place since 1945. In particular, the youth band and the symphonic wind orchestra have brought the club a good reputation in the region in recent years.
