Speyer competes in the city bike: Together for climate protection!

The city of Speyer will actively take part in the city bike from May 3 to 23, 2025. Under the motto "Youth active on site - cycling for a good cause", numerous kilometers are to be covered by bike in order to promote the topics of community, climate protection and social commitment. This was announced by the mayor Stefanie Seiler, who emphasized the joint aspect of the event.

Every kilometer that is cycled by bike during the campaign period counts. The focus is particularly on the promotion of children: the sponsorship money collected by the cyclists are to be invested in new bicycles for traffic lessons at primary schools in Speyer. In addition, the city administration will provide two e-cargo bikes for business trips during the campaign.

city bike in context

City bike is part of an international bicycle competition in which humans are encouraged to experience the advantages of cycling in everyday life, and is organized by the climate alliance, which is active in 27 European countries. It is not only a competition, but also promotes communication through the cycling infrastructure and its improvement. This also includes the Radar platform!

Between May 1 and September 30, the competition usually takes place and comprises 21 consecutive days in which the participants can collect as many kilometers as possible professionally and privately. Most recently, around 900 municipalities cycled over 60 million kilometers.

The city cycling is not only a place of competitions for the most active municipalities, teams and individuals, but also an opportunity for local politicians. These are invited to pedal yourself and experience the cycling conditions in your municipality. The infrastructure for cyclists is crucial to ensure environmentally friendly traffic in the long term.

The city of Speyer, which stands out through its initiative, impressively shows how commitment and community spirit can be brought together in the promotion of bicycle traffic. The city cycling campaign will not only support climate protection, but also strengthen the community and particularly sensitize younger generations to an active lifestyle.
