Great success in the regional competition Jugend musiziert in Kaiserslautern!
On March 21, 2025, the regional competition "Youth Music" took place in the Palatinate Grafensaal of the Casimirschloss in Kaiserslautern. This important event promotes the musical training of young talents and enjoyed great participation. A total of 32 young musicians from Kaiserslautern took part in the competition, which is the largest regional competition in Rhineland-Palatinate, as the city of Kaiserslautern reports in their press release.
The results of the competition are promising: 18 participants received a first prize, while 14 won a second prize. In addition, 9 musicians were nominated for the state competition. Kaiserslautern thus provides a significant part of the over 120 participants of the competition, which underlines the high importance of musical training in the region.
award ceremony and honors
The award ceremony was moderated by Mayor and Cultural Director Manfred Schulz, who highlighted the importance of musical development in Kaiserslautern. Prices with a total value of over 1,300 euros were donated by the Sparkasse Kaiserslautern. Patrick Wagner, deputy board member of the Sparkasse, and Andrea Brunnett, marketing manager, supported the event.
The moderation of the ceremony took over Katharina Punstein, the regional director of the competition. The event was musically framed by award winners, which illustrated the outstanding achievements of the participants. "We would also like to thank the families and teachers who support and promote our young talents," emphasized Schulz during the speech.
look into the future: State competition 2025
As part of the event, reference was made to the upcoming 62nd state competition in Rhineland-Palatinate 2025. This represents an important stage for the participants, since only participants who reach 24 or 25 points and at least belong to the age group III are nominated for the federal competition. The invitations to the federal competition are pronounced by Deutsche Musikrat gGmbH based on the ratings of the Landesjurys.
The invitations are expected at the earliest in the nationwide Easter holidays. For more information on the competitions and the associated regulations, interested parties can be used to visit the website Jugend-musiaste.org
funding opportunities for musical projects
In order to further support the musical work with children and adolescents, there are different funding opportunities. Public funds from the field of social education can be requested, information on this can be found on the website of the State Music Councilor Rheinland-pfalz .
The project promotion system is characterized by transparency and justice. Applications have been processed electronically since 2019, which reduces the administrative effort. The “small support” supports amateur music projects and the procurement of instruments, which further consolidates the cornerstones for lively musical child and youth work.
The positive response of the regional competition and the upcoming challenges in the state and federal competition once again show how important musical education is for the personal development of young people and how it contributes to the cultural diversity in Rhineland-Palatinate.
