Kaiserslautern starts through: Central immigration authority strengthens specialists!

On January 6, 2025, the city of Kaiserslautern reported on the success of the was founded to support companies in entering qualified specialists. Mayor Manfred Schulz drew a positive balance and pointed out to an increase in cases and a slight decrease in inquiries received.

1,850 inquiries were processed in 2023 and 1,219 cases were completed. In the following year 2024, 1,750 inquiries could already be processed and 1,350 cases were completed, which represents an increase of 131 completed cases compared to the previous year. The ZAB is responsible for the nationwide visa applications for the employment of foreign workers and initiated and completed around 7,000 visa procedures in 2024. This number is 1,000 procedures higher than in 2023. The work of the ZAB will relieve other immigration authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In the context of the immigration of skilled workers in Rhineland-Palatinate, Integration Minister Anne Spiegel also emphasized the importance of ZAB in her acceptance speech to Mayor Dr. Klaus Weichel. At its proposal, the state government decided on the establishment of this authority to comprehensively advise employers and to clarify questions of residence law. The ZAB is intended to make the processes for the determination of the equivalence of foreign professional qualifications efficiently.

The ZAB cooperates closely with welcome centers, chambers of industry and commercial, chambers of crafts, the Federal Employment Agency and jobs for professional recognition. Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic, the structure of modern structures and the digitization of the procedure is considered a central task to ensure the competitiveness of the indigenous economy.
