New Year's reception in Pirmasens: Challenges and future plans!

On January 14, 2025, the New Year's reception of the city of Pirmasens took place in the festival hall. Moderated by Uwe Hauser, the city marketing boss, the event welcomed about 500 guests. The "Little Wosnitzas Orchestra" from Landstuhl took over the musical framework. Mayor Markus Zwick welcomed those present together with the top of the administrative and the "count's country gardens".

In his speech, Zwick addressed the challenges in front of which the city is standing both in the past and next year. The topics mentioned included political, economic and social aspects, including pension, integration and the effects of climate change. Zwick particularly emphasizes the positive development of the Pirmasen and Rodalben municipal hospital; These represent a "success story" that arose after the merger three years ago.

challenges in healthcare

The financial difficulties for clinics, which can be observed nationwide, were also addressed. In this context, municipal heat planning, which is required by mid -2028, must also be considered to create a transformation plan. Zwick also reported from the construction aid in Pirmasens, which leads to a good quality of living in affordable rents.

Zwick's concern was the energetic renovation of 265 houses that are supposed to be climate -neutral. Currently 20% of the inventory is already in the renovation. Nevertheless, the hurdles for funding programs increase, which causes serious problems due to the underfunding of the municipalities. Zwick called for more financial resources for the municipalities and a reduction in bureaucratic hurdles in order to be able to better manage the challenges.

outlook for the future

The planned property tax reform is particularly problematic, which could lead to additional loads for owners and tenants. Pirmasens has proposed a compromise to cap -like the property tax rate. Despite these challenges, positive developments were also mentioned last year. Projects such as the shoe city, the Poissygarten and Schillerplatz flourished, while new entrepreneurs take on business.

A important initiative was also presented for the application for the Landesgartenschau 2032 with the lead motif "Nature very close". A citizen survey in September, in which 2,500 people took part, is intended to help the city develop strategies for future development. In addition, the foundation of the "Pirmasens community foundation" to promote the community was announced. Zwick thanked the citizens, associations and donors for their commitment and underlined the need for municipal self -government.

The participants were impressed by the good mood during the event, which was particularly noticeable before and after the official part. Loud laughs on the standing tables testified to a sociable coexistence that illustrates the importance of such events for the community. The New Year's reception therefore served as a review, but also as a platform for the exchange about the challenges of the city and the future perspectives.
