Literature Festival Kaiserslautern: Extra class reading festival!

From February 15th to 23rd, 2025, the literary festival takes place in Kaiserslautern, which is planned as a significant event to promote literature and reading culture. The festival was originally launched in 2019 to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the city library, the oldest German library with public funding. The city library plays a central role in the cultural life of Kaiserslautern and offers the stage for a variety of literary works and readings.

The literary festival changes every two years with the established “Lautern reads” campaign, which has existed for 20 years. As Meeting point Palatinate , the goal of the festival is to promote reading, writing and reading in the region. It is a strong cooperation with local partners such as RPTU, Campuskultur-Buchclub, the central library and various bookstores as well as cultural institutions.

Works by current authors such as Tijan Sila and Monika Zeiner are also presented. A total of 15 events are on the program, including readings, interpretations and discussions that appreciate the literary heritage of Germany.

The official opening of the festival takes place on February 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the SWR Studio, led by Mayor Manfred Schulz.
