Pizza like in Kaiserslautern: Police are looking for witnesses!

A surprising incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Kaiserslautern. An unknown man entered a restaurant on Friedrichstrasse shortly after 5 p.m. to order a pizza to take away. However, he left the restaurant in a fleeing manner before his order could be prepared. What initially appeared like a harmless restaurant visit quickly developed into theft when the employees noticed that the operating allowance with change and the box office behind the counter was missing. The police then initiated investigations and is looking for witnesses who saw the man in the restaurant or on his escape. Information can be reported on the phone number 0631 369-14199, such as Image reported.

The police are not only under pressure in this case. On December 8, 2024, two thefts from cars in the urban area of Kaiserslautern were reported, which further tightened the security situation in the region. In the first incident in the night from Thursday to Friday, an unlocked vehicle was affected, from which cash and personal items were stolen. The vehicle owner, a 70-year-old woman, had parked the car with two borrowed doors. Another theft occurred on Saturday night in Haspelstrasse, where a black sports bag including laptop and clothing was stolen while the vehicle was parked on the side of the road. Here, too, the police have started investigations and asks witnesses to contact the old town area on 0631 369-2150, such as Wochenblatt-Reporter reported.

The security situation in Kaiserslautern

The relationships of these events also skill light on the general security situation in Kaiserslautern and beyond. In other regions such as Berlin, crime statistics have been mixed in recent years. While the number of bicycle thefts in Berlin 2022 and 2023 was constantly in around 28,800 cases, there was a decline in 2024. Police President Barbara Slovik Meisel emphasizes the importance of prevention work. The police have introduced measures to combat thefts, including bicycle registrations and information campaigns. Nevertheless, there is a worrying increase in burglaries in basement rooms and a high number of reported shoplifting with 39,149 cases in 2023, the highest level for a decade, which indicates an increasing security problem, which cannot be ignored in Kaiserslautern, as the Berliner Zeitung informed.

In view of the current situation in Kaiserslautern and the latest incidents, it is essential for the police to react to these challenges as quickly as possible and to strengthen security measures. The population is also encouraged in this context to be attentive and to report suspicious activities immediately.
