Talents of the region: competition for young musicians in Kaiserslautern!
The Emmerich-Smola music school and the district music school Kaiserslautern are once again calling for participation in the “Talents of the region” competition. This is already the sixth edition of the event that is dedicated to promoting young musicians. The application period ends on March 15, 2025, and the competition is aimed at talented musicians from the city and the district of Kaiserslautern.
Musical talents are sought in two age groups: 13 to 16 years and 17 to 21 years. The category of competition is "Classical for Solo Instruments", whereby both solo works and works for solo instruments can be performed with accompaniment. The prerequisite for participation is that the applicants have participated in the "Jugend musiziert" or a comparable competition as a winner in the past five years.conditions of participation and process
Participants must be resident in the city or in the district of Kaiserslautern. In addition, participation is only permitted once per category. If there is a registration of more than three participants per category, a preliminary decision takes place in April 2025. The musical performance in front of the jury should not exceed a length of 15 minutes. The pieces are freely selectable, which leaves the participating space for creativity.
The final of the competition will take place on May 24, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the SWR studio Kaiserslautern. There the best three participants of each age category compete against each other. The jury consists of members of the Emmerich-Smola music school, the Kaiserslautern district music school, the German Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, the Palatinate Hharmonie Kaiserslautern and representatives of the press. In addition, the audience has the opportunity to submit a rating as the sixth juror.
