Judgment in the cruelty of animals: acquittals for butchers!
In the appeal process against employees of the Härting Horting Retail in Kaiserslautern, on February 1, 2025, a judgment was made, which included both faded penalties and acquittals. The main accusations concerned cruelty and violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
The managing director of the butcher was acquitted. In a previous procedure, he had received a fine for non -fulfillment of his duty of supervision. The judges at the Kaiserslautern district court decided that it could not be proven that he violated his duties because he could not be seen on video recordings. Witnesses confirmed that the managing director was occasionally present and only carried out sophisticated controls.
penalties and judgments
The punishments were surprisingly milder in the appointment. Three employees who were previously convicted by the district court received professional bans as a slaughterhouse. The court found that in many cases the employees had improperly killed pigs, cattle and horses, but did not act with intent. An employee who was identified as the son of the butcher's boss received a probation penalty of nine months and has to pay 3,000 euros to the Kaiserslautern Zoo. He was also imposed on a five -year job ban as a slaughterhouse.
Another employee was sentenced to one year and six months on probation, whereby he has to pay 2,000 euros to the Kaiserslautern animal protection association. The fourth employee received a fine, but was acquitted in some cases. In total there were also numerous administrative offenses that resulted in fines.
Investigations and backgrounds
The district court dealt with around 80 cases
