On February 6th and 7th, 2025, the master school for craftsmen (MHK) opens its doors to everyone interested in Kaiserslautern. On these two days there is the "Day of Training", which offers comprehensive insights into the diverse training professions. The event takes place at the location at Turnerheim 1 in Kaiserslautern and is an excellent opportunity to get to know the educational center of the Pfalz district association.

The first day of the event begins on Thursday, February 6th, from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Friday, February 7th, the doors of the MHK are open from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pupils can look forward to interactive presentations and practical demonstrations, in which various professional fields are presented. The metal builders who present their blacksmiths on the open fire will be particularly vivid.

practical insights and trial internships

A highlight of the "Day of Training" is the all -day trial internship in the goldsmith's department, which will be offered on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Interested participants can learn here to work with tools and even make their own jewelry. Registration is required for this internship, the material costs amount to 10 euros. The MHK attaches particular importance to convey often neglected training aspects such as gilding and modeling. The aim is to inspire young women in particular for these professions.

The MHK offers a wide range of training occupations, including a specialist in metal engineering, metal builders, electronics technicians (in the fields of automation and system technology), information electronics technician, goldsmith, painter and painter as well as carpenter and stonemasons. The course of training is rounded off by the possibility of gaining a school leaving certificate that is equivalent to the journeyman's letter. This makes the MHK one of the few three -year vocational schools in Germany that offer such extensive training.

In order to be able to participate in the MHK, prospective students must have a graduation certificate from the secondary school or an equivalent educational qualification. In addition, a medical certificate for the health suitability according to the Youth Labor Protection Act is required. There are no school fees, but the trainees must expect costs for learning and work equipment as well as a deposit for tools provided.

The registration deadline for the new school year is March 1. In order to apply for an apprenticeship, various documents must be submitted, including officially certified photocopies of the certificates and evidence of possible work. Finally, the journeyman's examination takes place at the end of the training in front of the Chamber of Crafts.
