Koblenz University of Applied Sciences starts Bachelor in Robotics and AI: Future project for the region!
On March 27, 2025, the members of the state parliament Peter Moscopp, Matthias Reuber and Torsten Welling visited the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences to find out about the new Bachelor's degree in "Robotics and Artificial Intelligence". They were greeted by Prof. Dr. Karl Stoffel, the President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Daniel Zöller and Prof. Dr. Udo Gnasa from the engineering department. The course is currently in the accreditation phase and is expected to start in the 2025/2026 winter semester.
The new course is a unique educational infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate and combines practical robotics with innovative technologies of artificial intelligence. The Rhineland-Palatinate state government supports this project with a funding of two million euros by the Ministry of Science and Health (MWG). This support aims to promote the close linking of research, teaching and practice and thus strengthen the innovative strength of both the university and the region.

As part of the visit, Prof. Dr. Karl Stoffel the relevance of the course for the region. He and Prof. Dr. Udo Gnasa emphasized the importance of the qualification of specialists in order to meet the challenges of digital transformation in the industrial sector. The course focuses on training in the areas of robotics, artificial intelligence and computer science to support the technology transfer with regional companies.
The Koblenz University of Applied Sciences also plans to set up a robotics center in Neuwied, which not only promotes the educational path in robotics, but also contributes to the creation of new jobs and supporting company start-ups in the region. There is a close cooperation with local companies in order to convey practical knowledge to the student.
