Truck tipper causes mega congestion on the A61 near Koblenz!
A fallen truck on the A61 motorway near Koblenz ensured considerable traffic disruptions on January 6, 2025. The accident occurred around 2:50 p.m. when the truck overturned due to the stormy wind between the Kruft and Plaidt junctions. While the driver, a 63-year-old man, was unharmed, he was taken to the hospital for a precautionary examination.
The A61 towards Koblenz is currently completely closed, which has led to a backlog of up to nine kilometers between the Niederzissen and Plaidt junctions. Drivers must expect an estimated loss of time of at least one hour. The police have so far not been able to estimate the duration of the full blocking and recommends a spacious bypass of the affected section of the route.
Details of the incident
The tractor-trailer tipped to the side and blocked the lane towards the south, such as Blick-aktuell.de reported. The driver had to be released from the cab from police forces. The rescue work is underway, which requires the complete blocking of the road.
In addition, it is recommended to form a rescue alley to make it easier for the emergency services to pass through. The current traffic jam has also increased and is now up to 10 kilometers, which makes the situation even more complicated for many drivers. The incident is reminiscent of similar events in which rapid weather changes in the region led to traffic disruptions.
