Neuendorf celebrates the future: A lively district for all generations!
On May 12, 2025, the nationwide start of the day of urban development funding in the Neuendorf district took place in Koblenz. Under the motto "Living places, strong communities", the event was celebrated with the focus on progress in urban development. The district has made considerable progress in recent years through professional district management, which have now been presented to the public.
Early in the morning the ceremony began with a walk, during which the newly designed district square in front of the St. Peter church was visited. Mayor David Langner and Mayor Ulrike Mohrs led the tour tour. Among the high -ranking guests were also Prime Minister Alexander Schweitzer, Interior Minister Michael Ebling and Federal Minister of Construction Verena Hubertz. This support from politics underlines the importance of the event and the district for the region.
diverse activities and commitment
The beginning of the event was designed particularly festively by a musical contribution of the "trash drummer" by the Goethe Realschule Plus. The children of the Willi-Graf primary school and the Pusteblume daycare center welcomed the visitors with welcome songs. Johannes Kuhl, project manager of the Social City of Koblenz-Neuendorf, moderated the event and presented the topics of the discussions that dealt with the importance of a rapid implementation of activities and the coexistence of all generations.
A highlight of the day was the symbolic release of the newly designed Max Bär-Straße, which was celebrated by cutting a shut-off strap. Over 20 institutions, associations and urban departments offered a variety of hands-on and talking offers to visitors. The response to the event was consistently positive, and Neuendorf is optimistic about the future.
Development of the city center
In addition to the celebrations in Neuendorf, the commitment of the city of Koblenz is also reflected in the development of the city center. On May 6th, a future workshop took place in the City Church on Jesuitenplatz, in which around 80 local actors and interested citizens took part. The aim of this event was to develop creative and practical ideas for downtown Koblenz. Documentation of these ideas will be published promptly to make the results accessible to the public.
The kick -off event for the “Living Downtown” initiative took place on April 3. in the City Church Koblenz. Around 100 citizens took part in the discussion about the future of the city center, and here too, Mayor David Langner and head of building department were Prof. Dr. Andreas Lukas present. The evening was accompanied musically by the Koblenz band Tri3o.
The "Living Downtown" process is supported by financial means of the federal, state and the city. The office of advice Dr. Sven Fries accompanies the long -term development process, whereby an integrated urban development concept serves as the basis. This concept is closely linked to the recently launched inner city management. Astrid Fries, the inner city manager, can be reached in the inner city office (Altenhof 7) for the concerns of the citizens. The active inclusion of residents in the planning ensures that developments meet the needs of people in the neighborhood.
