Redesign of the bird protection park: A meeting point for nature lovers!

The CDU Koblenz-Karthaus invites you to an on-site appointment at the “Am Vogelschutzpark” bus stop at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The focus is on the planned steps to redesign the bird protection park. The aim is to enhance the park and the development as an attractive local recreation room for the citizens. Mr. Andreas Drechsler, head of the own company's own company, will explain the technical details. He is supported by Marius Jakob, the chairman of the CDU Koblenz-Karthaus, city council and member of the green area committee.

The redesign includes measures such as the removal of dark and confusing corners to create a more open parking structure. This initiative is part of a larger trend to give urban green areas a higher ecological and social value through targeted upgrading. The city of Koblenz not only pursues the goal of improving the quality of life, but also the preservation of biodiversity in urban parks. According to Wald2011 , urban parks are essential for the protection of biodiversity, the improvement of the micro climate and the filtering of harmful substances from the air.

comparison to Berlin renovation projects

Developments in Koblenz are in the context of similar measures that are implemented in five Berlin parks in 2025. These redesign also aim at ecological revaluation and the creation of new leisure activities. The Libertypark in Hellersdorf is redesigned to transform sealed areas into a multi -layered green area. In Moabit, the Fritz Schloß Park is ecologically upgraded by planting flower meadows and perennials.

  • Libertypark in Hellersdorf: Einlearing of concrete surfaces and new games and sports offers for all age groups.
  • Fritz-Schloß-Park in Moabit: planting of flower meadows to improve the food supply for insects and birds.
  • Park am Nordbahnhof: renovation of a damaged archway, collaboration with Berlin sub -worlds to increase security.
  • Treptower Park: redesign of the western area; Completion of the paths by plans by the garden architect Gustav Meyer until the end of 2025.
  • Mauerpark: Third construction phase with work on a dog run area and the amphitheater.

The planned work in Berlin and Koblenz show how important relaxation and social encounter are in urban areas. In many cities, the preservation of these green areas is in the area of tension between structural developments and the needs of the residents. In view of the climate change, these premises are becoming increasingly important for the health of the city dwellers.

urban parks are not only relaxation locations, but also essential elements for adapting climate changes. Initiatives such as the Stoasenwandel-project in Munich show that well-designed and cultivated city oases can lower the air temperature by up to four degrees Celsius. These findings should influence the planning of future green areas.

The redesign of the bird protection park in Koblenz is therefore a small but important step in a larger process that is supposed to promote the health of urban rooms. Citizens are invited to actively accompany this change and to find out about the measures.
