VCU Wiener Neustadt: dramatic games and gripping fighting spirit!
The volleyball season has recently brought a mixed result for the teams of VCU Wiener Neustadt. While the Bundesliga team had to take a clear 0-3 defeat against the hot volley at the weekend, the Landesliga team in the Lower Austrian Cup showed a convincing performance and prevailed 3-0 against Aschbach. The team is in the semi-finals of the Lower Austrian Cup. Noe.n reports on the emotional roller coaster trips that had to go through the team.
The fight in the Bundesliga turned out to be challenging. The VCU had noticeable difficulties with the defense of the hot volleys, which were able to defuse many attacks by the Neustädter. Chairman Franz Kaiser commented concernly about the performance of the team, especially after the exciting third set, which ended with 23:25.
radiant performance in the Lower Austrian Cup
In contrast, the Landesliga team showed impressive progress. After the victory over Aschbach, you have now secured a place in the semi-finals of the Lower Austrian Cup. This positive turn will certainly give the moral tailwind for future tasks. The success of the common players is particularly remarkable because they were able to gain significantly less experience compared to the Bundesliga team.
In the second Bundesliga, the weekend was shaped by crucial encounters. On Saturday, VCU Wiener Neustadt clearly won 3-0 against Hartberg. The first sentence ran through an open exchange of blows, which experienced a crucial turn at 20:20 when Niklas Payer won the sentence with his service series. The second sentence followed a similar pattern in which Vienna Neustadt quickly worked out an unexciting lead. Captain Alexander Postl showed leadership and calm in this phase, while the hosts were no longer challenging their opponents in the third set and could clearly win the sentence.
nerve strength against the hot volleys
The match against the second team of the hot volleys was an exciting challenge. Wiener Neustadt was initially dominated, but despite a strongly performing Matthias Seiser and a clear first sentence after a few self -errors suddenly saw strong headwind. After a 25:15 for the hot volleys, the Neustädter fought back, led the third set with flying colors and finally came to an open exchange of blows, which led to the fifth set. Here Wiener Neustadt set the final point through a concentrated performance and thanks to Matthias Seiser's first match ball with 15:13
coach Stephan Palmberger not only praised his team for the fighting spirit, but also for the great emotions that were noticeable in this game. The next few days will offer the team the opportunity to regenerate before going to the next games of the Landesliga. This mixture of success and challenges shows the dynamics with which points and recognition are fought in volleyball.
