Dortmund: barrier -free conversion of the light rail starts in the summer of 2025!

In the summer of 2025, the long-awaited barrier-free conversion of five Stadtbahn stops on the federal road (B1) begins in Dortmund. This can be seen from a report of the Nordstadtbloggers since 2016 for the Kohlgartenstraße stops, Voßkuhle, Lübkestrasse, Max-Eyth-Straße and Stadtkrone-Ost documented. The City Council of Dortmund will decide on the construction decision on February 13, 2025.

The costs for the project have more than doubled since 2020 and are now around 59.5 million euros. This also includes planning costs of around 1.2 million euros. The financing model provides for the application for funding that can cover up to 90% of the costs - a corresponding application has already been submitted. However, follow -up costs for the maintenance of bridges and lifts must also be taken into account in the construction costs.

effects on the environment and traffic

An important aspect of the renovation is the need to remove 70 trees. Nevertheless, replacement plantings are planned to protect the ecological balance. During the construction work, which also includes structural adjustments for barrier -free access by the Rütlipark, drivers will have to expect restrictions and possible closures on the inside of the B1.

The remodeling of the stops takes place in several phases. From 2027, new light rail cars are planned without fold -out steps, which means that the platform height has to be increased from 38 to 94 cm. In order to ensure ongoing operation, a temporary solution with additional platforms and single -track operation in the construction area is first introduced.

special challenges

There are special challenges at the Max-Eyth-Straße stop, where there is a suspected suspicion point that requires a vibration-free removal of the stairs. The first construction work begins at the Stadtkrone-Ost stop, where the southern access spindle is dismantled. At the same time, a new stair tower will be replaced and a new bridge with feed from the Tirana path is built.

With these extensive renovation work, which should be completed by mid -2030, the city of Dortmund pursues the goal of drastically improving accessibility in local public transport. In addition, the city will inform its citizens in good time about short -term interruptions of the light rail company, which requires sensitive handling of the construction work.
