Art connects cities: opening of the exhibition in Mülheim!
On January 17, 2025, the art exhibition “Stadt - Land - River” was opened in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In her greeting, the mayor Ann-Kathrin Allekotte emphasized the importance of cultural exchange between Mülheim and his partner cities. This vernissage is part of the upcoming Franco-German day, which will be celebrated on January 22nd, and puts the encounter with the artist Justine Ginter from the French twin town of Tours.
In cooperation with the Mülheim artist Rona Nekes, Ginter presents her works that include cinematic and photographic art. The exhibition addresses the similarities and differences between the partner cities and illuminates the historical and cultural connections that are shaped by their rivers. The works can be seen in the four -house center until January 25, 2025. All citizens are cordially invited to visit the exhibition.

Since 1962, the city partnership between Mülheim an der Ruhr and Tours, the capital of the Départiments Indre-ET-Loire in the Center-Val de Loire region. Tours has about 140,000 inhabitants and is about 230 km southwest of Paris on the Loire. It is known for its medieval old town, modern industrial settlements on the outskirts and its historical importance as the bishopric of St. Martin and due to the Battle of Tours in 732 AD against the Mauren.

Culinary also has a lot to offer. Visits in wineries to eat regional wines and specialties such as rillettes, goat cheese and quail salad round off the experience. The city is also known for its picturesque bike hiking trails that lead through idyllic villages and vineyards.
The continuing partnership between Mülheim an der Ruhr and Tours also shows in the current art exhibition how culture can beat bridges and promote understanding between different nations. The official encounter in the town hall of Mülheim with the artists involved also confirms the close connection between the two cities.
