Traffic chaos at the weekend: full closures on NRW motorways!

This weekend, drivers in North Rhine-Westphalia will have to expect significant traffic disruptions. A total of three motorways are completely closed between Friday evening and Monday morning, which results in massive diversions, especially for commuters and professional drivers.

on the A45 , which is completely blocked at the level of the westhofen cross at sword. This measure is necessary because four bridges have to be renewed via the A1 (Cologne-Bremen). The closure begins on Friday at 10 p.m. and ends on Monday at 5:00 a.m. Nationwide traffic is redirected, while regional traffic is led via the Schwerte and Hagen-Nord junctions.

also the A42 will be affected this weekend. Here the Rheinbrücke at Duisburg-Beckerwerth will be completely closed from Friday at 9:00 p.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m. The reason for this is a rope test. Drivers have to adjust to diversions here too: In the direction of Dortmund, the traffic at the Duisburg-Baerl junction is derived, while the diversion at the Duisburg-Beeck junction takes place in the direction of Kamp-Lintfort. The diversions lead via the A40, A57 and A59.

Furthermore, the A43 between Kreuz Recklinghausen blocked. This lock is necessary due to the six -lane expansion of the A43, which also begins on Friday at 9:00 p.m. and ends on Monday at 5:00 a.m. The aim of this comprehensive work is to improve the flow of traffic and to remove frequent stowage symptoms, which have occurred in particular on this route.

long -term construction sites and developments

The construction work on the Baukau tunnel, which connects the A43 towards Münster with the A42 towards Oberhausen, have been underway since September 2021. The tunnel, which will be 550 meters long and runs 500 meters underground, represents an important part of the six -lane expansion of the A43 and is to be released for traffic by the end of 2025. Around 67 million euros will be invested for the implementation of this project, with over 7,000 cubic meters of earth moved. The tunnel will offer entrances and trips to further optimize the transport connection.

Project manager Guido Meinzer illustrates the synergy effects of the work in the Herne , where the new construction of the central bridge has already started. This consists of four individual buildings that span the A43. In order to ensure a rapid completion, the majority of the bridge parts take place before delivery to the construction site.

The coming days will be a challenge for drivers in North Rhine-Westphalia. Commuters in particular should adapt to considerable traffic and include corresponding diversions in their travel planning.
