Future Park in Echzell: Bigest project for the Landesgartenschau 2027!
On March 26, 2025, preparations for an important event in the Oberhessen Region are in full swing. The inter -municipal state garden show, which begins on April 22, 2027, includes the participation of eleven municipalities, including Echzell. Mayor Wilfried Mogk emphasizes the "L (i) Echzell" initiative as a positive result of a citizens' decision and emphasizes the possibilities that the garden show brings for the community.
A central project of implementation is the planned lookout tower on the former Roman pest, which is intended to help make the history of the region tangible. The financing of the tower is secured and cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt will initiate a student competition to design the building. A film about the Römerkastell is created in cooperation with the Heimat- und History Association.
Development of the "Future Park"
On April 24, 2024, the members of the municipal council in Echzell decided on the “Future Park”, a central element of the garden show. This park is supposed to create a new room for leisure and relaxation between the streets "Am Sauerborn" and "Am Preulen". A bike path and bridges are integrated to promote mobility in the region.
With a maximum self -contribution of 3 million euros, which was set in September 2022, the municipality intends to keep the costs low. At the moment, the own contribution is already at 2.5 million euros. Critical voices, especially of the SPD, expressed concerns about the financing and repair of the sports field, which was rejected by the CDU and the Greens.
environmental protection and preservation of nature
Another aspect of the State Garden Show is the upgrading of the Bingenheimer Ried through an floodplain information center. This center is realized together with the Hessian Society for Ornithology and Nature Conservation and should not only offer exhibition rooms, but also the urgent problems of the community, such as the missing toilets and parking spaces. In addition, measures to renaturate the Horloff are being planned as part of the garden show, whereby cooperation with the Gerty Strohm Foundation is being sought. The return of beavers, otter and kingfisher was observed, which underlines the nature conservation importance of these measures.
The economic impulses resulting from the garden show are of great importance for the citizens of Echzell and the surrounding area. The gastronomy, trade and the hotel industry should benefit from the flows of visitors.
mobility in rural areas
In order to address the mobility challenges of rural areas, the introduction of on-demand traffic is proposed. This solution is intended to improve the connection to main traffic axes and cover the need for flexible transport offers, which is particularly important for the villages of the region. In this context, the cooperation with traffic planners from Ioki, which will advise the rural area of Upper Hesse, are planned for the traffic design.
The citizens of Echzell can therefore not only look forward to a number of new leisure opportunities, but also to improve the quality of life through better infrastructure and mobility offers in harmony with nature.
Mayor Wilfried Mogk sees great opportunities in inter -municipal cooperation and emphasizes the long -term advantages that will emerge from the garden show for the perception of the region. The voluntary commitment in Echzell remains an active building block to support the community.
