Generous donation secures the future of the Landau zoo in the Palatinate!
On February 13, 2025, the Landau Zoo in the Palatinate was given a generous donation of 10,000 euros. The amount was presented by Regina and Heinrich Abendfein, who would like to return something with this gesture of the city. The mayor and zoo center Lukas Hartmann, zoo director Dr. Jens-Ove Heckel and Dr. Helmuth Back, the chairman of the Zoo Freunde Group.
In his speech, Lukas Hartmann emphasized the importance of the zoo not only as a popular destination for citizens, but also for environmental education and species protection. Zoo Director Dr. Heckel emphasized the relevance of civic engagement, which is shown in the form of donations and animal sponsorship. He plans to invite the couple to an exclusive tour behind the scenes of the zoo in order to bring them closer to the work and the facilities on site.support for the zoo
The Zoo Landau, which houses around 800 animals, rely on financial resources in order to be able to pass permanently. The commitment of private individuals such as the evening certificate is of great importance. The zoo is therefore still looking for support for animal sponsors and donors to continue its valuable work. A fundraising campaign is possible through the support association, the Freundeskreis Zoo Landau e.V.
