District administration relies on e-mobility: one step into the green future!
The district administration of the southern Weinstrasse has taken an important step towards environmentally friendly mobility. She has switched her fleet to electric vehicles, and for some time now two new electric vehicles have been in use. This initiative is funded by financial support of around 21,200 euros from Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport .
employees of the youth welfare office, building authority and other departments now use the more environmentally friendly vehicles. The administration's fleet currently comprises five electric vehicles, and it is planned that additional electric vehicles are purchased via the municipal investment program climate protection and innovation (KIPKI).
energy generation through solar carports
The district administration also plans to build a solar carport over an employee car park. This carport will have an expected performance of around 90 kilowatt peak (KWP). 32 parking spaces are covered with photovoltaic modules, and the energy generated should primarily be used for the district fleet park and for the district administration. The project to electrify the fleet and to build further charging infrastructure is also supported with around 21,200 euros.
The measures of the district administration are part of a more comprehensive trend in Germany, where the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport invests in electromobility. A total of 20 million euros will be used in projects for the procurement of vehicles and building charging infrastructure. Over 1,000 vehicles and almost 250 charging points are promoted to sustainably reduce emissions in traffic, especially for taxis and courier services.
an important step into the future
The funding aims to accelerate the changeover of local and commercial fleets to electromobility. These vehicles are to be operated by renewable energies in order to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. As early as the summer of 2021, the goal of 1 million electric vehicles was achieved, which underlines the government's determination to bring electromobility forward.
As part of the electromobility funding directive, which has existed since 2015, over 1,000 projects with a funding volume of 386 million euros have already been launched. This guideline aims to promote electromobility in all areas and plans a further call to promote electric vehicles and charging infrastructure for 2022. These measures are part of a strategic plan of the federal government in order to modernize the transport systems and achieve the climate goals.
