Federal Garden Show 2029: Middle Rhine Valley in the blossom frenzy of anticipation!
In 2029, the Federal Garden Show (Buga) will focus on the upper Middle Rhine Valley. Preparations for this major event are in full swing and are already causing lively discussions and planning steps. Buga 2029, which was officially announced on February 6, 2025, should not only beautify the region, but also bring together local communities and boost economics and tourism.
The first concrete measures are imminent. The first excavators will soon roll to start implementing the plans. This is a comprehensive project that includes the development of six Buga29 parks in different cities. These plans are carried out by specialist offices that ensure that each detail is optimally developed.
financing and planning
The Welterbe Oberes Mittelrheintal Association has decided to plan budgets for 2025 in an important meeting in Bingen. The financial resources for BUGA 2029 were increased by significant 68.6 million euros by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition, an examination of an increase in the amount of funding is sought by the state of Hesse, which goes beyond 6.3 million euros. Municipalities within the special -purpose association contribute 14.4 million euros to financing.
Association leader Volker Boch emphasized the solid constellation of the special -purpose association and the need to increase the funding amount moderately by 778,000 euros in order to create future -proof conditions for the implementation of the event. In addition, a new personnel position is created in the office of the special -purpose association in order to promote the project work, especially for BUGA 2029.
competitions and visitor numbers
For the BUGA 2029, planning competitions are also planned for three base areas: the Rhine bank site in Lahnstein (15 hectares), the Rhine bank site in Bacharach (10 hectares) and the Hafenpark in Rüdesheim (12 hectares). These areas will cost admission during the Federal Garden Show and should attract several thousand visitors every day. The flower show will take place decentrally on a distance of 67 rhine kilometers between Koblenz, Bingen and Rüdesheim, which should ensure a lively atmosphere.
Currently there are no visible construction projects, but numerous ongoing activities and strategic planning are underway. The BUGA29 should not only be a shop window of the regions, but also represent a hands -on movement for all citizens. The first planning competitions will be awarded as early as 2023 and the winners were chosen shortly afterwards to initiate the next steps in the implementation of this unique event.
The Federal Garden Show 2029 in the World Heritage Oberes Mittelrheintal therefore shows promising signs of development and will certainly be a highlight for the entire region.
