Fraudal calls: False police officers are up to mischief in Mainz-Bingen!

In the district of Mainz-Bingen there is currently an alarming increase in fraudulent calls, in which the perpetrators pretend to be police officers. As the Rhein-Zeitung reported that the fraudsters were carried out near the place of residence of the called. In these calls, the victims are talked to that will now be broken into at their home address. To gain trust, the callers use the names of real police officers and alleged personnel numbers.

The fraudsters offer to send a patrol to take cash or valuables in custody. The police urgently warn against these attempts to fraud and give some important information: the police will never ask for amounts of money or receive them for custody. In parallel to these incidents, the Bremen public prosecutor's office lodged a complaint against a decision by the regional court in Bremen on February 27, 2024, such as criminal rights. Overall, several defendants have to answer for a particularly severe case of the common attempted fraud. The allegation of the crime comprises a total of 28 charges, including the preservation of office, since one of the accused spent out as a police officer and performed sovereign acts. The Attorney General has requested that the partial rejection be lifted and requested that the indictment be admitted. The responsible criminal chamber will be filled with three professional judges and two lay judges.
