On the 8th matchday of the Regionalliga Südwest, a dramatic duel occurred between TV Homburg and HSG Rhein-Nahe Bingen, which ended in a 31: 32 defeat for Homburg. After a one -week success series and the previous league leader status, the team under coach Pedro Vieira lost the valuable points in a narrow and emotional game.

The TV Homburg initially started slow and fell behind after ten minutes with 4: 7. But the team showed fighting spirit and was able to compensate for 8: 8 by Jan-Philipp Valda. Evaldo Almeida subsequently brought Homburg into the lead with 11:10. At a halftime score of 15:14, the Homburger had their noses just ahead, although Jose Resend could not use an important seven meter.

criticism of the course of the game

In the second half, Homburg initially set a clear sign with an intermediate score of 22:17. But then the concentration disappeared, and Bingen took advantage of this weakness to turn the sheet in the 46th minute with a 6-0 run and take the lead for the first time with 23:22. Homburg stayed without his own hit for eleven minutes and could not build on the performance shown beforehand.

In the final phase, luck seemed to be on the side of the Homburgers. Robin Egelhof ensured 31:31 before Lorenzo Lang scored the decisive goal for 32:31 for Bingen in the last second. The disappointment in the Homburg cabin was noticeable, and both coach Pedro Vieira and Bingssen's Jörg Ecker were critical of the lost points.

Next challenges and game results

Homburg's next challenge is on February 15 against HF Illtal, which will take place in the Robert Bosch School Sports Hall from 6:30 p.m. While Bingen was happy about the deserved victory, Homburg remains challenged with a look at the improvement of his performance in the coming game.

The Homburger's results include in this game: Robin Egelhof with 10 goals, followed by Jan Philipp Valda (6 goals) and Patrick Bach (4 goals). The yield is supplemented by Jose Resende, Ante Grbavac and Elvado Almeida, each scored three goals. In comparison, Homburg with Henning Huber and Patrick Schulz relied on a strongly occupied goalkeeper duo that tried to minimize the pressure from the strong Binger offensive.

The HSG Breckenheim Wallau/Massenheim also had two test games on weekends, one of which was lost to HV Vallendar with 18:23. Despite a skillful defense game and the possibility of testing different players, the team turned out to be sufficiently good to survive in the first test phase. However, a 31:24 victory against Rhein near Bingen followed on Sunday, in which the HSG coach Gilles Lorenz found an increase in the team performance and faces the upcoming work with confidence.
