Binger Straße in Mainz: Complete lock announced from April 22nd!
Binger Strasse in Mainz is completely blocked for three days after the Easter holidays. The closure begins on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at around 7 a.m. and ends on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at around 5 p.m. This measure concerns the lane leading out of the city between Bilhildisstraße and Alicenplatz. The reason for the blocking is security on the embankment of the provisional road as well as preparatory work for the track lines, such as "https://merkurist.de/maz/bau-waben-binger-strasse-in-mainz-werd-nach-ostert-stermu"> Merkurist.de
During the work, traffic is only discontinued during the day. Drivers who come from Bilhildisstrasse can continue to use the access to Bilhildisstrasse. A detour was set up for vehicles that want to drive towards the city center. The detour takes place via Münsterstrasse, Schillerstrasse, Kleine Langgasse and Große Langgasse. The trips towards Alicenbrücke are diverted from Große Langgasse via Gärtnergasse and Kaiserstrasse. Drivers have to contact the intersection of Boppstrasse/Parcusstrasse.
previous closures and traffic impairments
The largest construction site in Mainz, both for drivers and pedestrians, seems to be Binger Straße, which is expected to be partially closed until December 2025. The traffic is diverted here via Parcusstraße/Kaiserstraße and Gärtnergasse/Bauhofstrasse, while a lane is available out of town. The reason for these measures are the construction of a new tram line between Alicenbrücke and Münsterplatz as well as the redesign of Binger Straße, such as dermainzer.net explained in a report.
These numerous construction measures and closures can be expected that the traffic situation in Mainz could remain tense in the coming months. Drivers and residents are asked to adapt to possible delays.
