Karim Onisiwo leaves Mainz: Switch to RB Salzburg perfect!

Karim Onisiwo leaves FSV Mainz 05 after a nine -year -old time at the club. The 32-year-old attacker has dissolved his contract and switches to RB Salzburg, a participant in the UEFA Champions League, with immediate effect. Onisiwo signed a new contract that is valid until 2026. The two clubs have agreed silent about the transfer modalities.

Onisiwo came from SV Mattersburg to Mainz in January 2016 and played a total of 233 competitive games for the Rheinhessen. During this time he scored 35 goals and prepared 32 more goals. With 33 goals in 214 Bundesliga missions, he is the Bundesliga record goal scorer of the Mainz together with Jonathan Burkardt. In the current season, however, onisiwo only came up with six missions under coach Bo Henriksen.

Onisiwo himself expressed gratitude for the time at Mainz and emphasized the support of Heidel and the former coach Martin Schmidt. He sees the move to Salzburg as a new sporting challenge and as a return to his home country.
