New Mayor of St. Goarshausen: Plans for the Loreley!

On January 23, 2025, a tour group from the Koblenz constituency visited the Bundestag in Berlin. The group, consisting of citizens from Koblenz, Mayen-Koblenz and the Rhein-Lahn district, received an insight into the political work on site. This was made by the SPD member of the Bundestag Dr. Thorsten Rudolph, who represents the interests of his voters in a variety of ways in political space. This event was a valuable opportunity for the participants to find out about the political process and current legislative proposals.

The constituency of Koblenz includes not only the cities of Koblenz, Lahnstein and Bendorf, but also several community communities, including Rhein-Mosel, Weißenthurm and Vallendar. In addition, Dr. Rudolph the Rhein-Hunsrück district and parts of the Mayen-Koblenz district, including Andernach and Mayen, under his care. This extensive responsibility enables him to represent numerous regional concerns in the Bundestag.

Another political highlight in the region is the choice of Nico Busch as the city mayor of St. Goarshausen. He is a lawyer and entrepreneur who grew up in his hometown and recently returned to his home country to actively contribute to local politics. The Loreley, as his favorite place, is not only a personal connection, but also an important attraction for tourism in the region.

Busch emphasizes that the Loreley offers a variety of tourist attractions, such as the Loreley visitor center, the bistro on the mythical rock as well as the Loreley-Bob railway and the open-air stage. These attractions are not only culturally valuable, but also support the local economy, which has a high priority for Busch.

Nico Busch in particular presented plans for the myth room and the Federal Garden Show 2029 (Buga) in the World Heritage Oberes Mittelrheintal. He has already promised support for projects that are supposed to advance both the city of St. Goarshausen and the surrounding communities. These projects are part of a larger plan, the beauty and cultural heritage of the region and at the same time give room for innovative developments.

In addition, educational partners such as the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences and universities in Bingen and Koblenz work on interdisciplinary approaches to develop sustainable solutions. The Bugalabor (Buga_lab) was set up as a platform for exchange on regional topics. The exchange between Buga GmbH and the universities should promote knowledge transfer and develop projects that link mobility, ecology and tourism.

Developments in St. Goarshausen and throughout the constituency of Koblenz show a growing commitment of politicians and citizens for the future of the region. Dr. Thorsten Rudolph and Nico Busch are active designers of this exciting time, which is characterized by a variety of initiatives and projects.
