On April 6, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L98 between Koblenz and Bassenheim, in which five people were seriously injured. The accident was caused by a 68-year-old woman from the community (VG) Weißenthurm, who was traveling towards Bassenheim. Her vehicle collided head-on with the car of a 52-year-old woman who drove towards Koblenz. The exact circumstances of the incident are currently still unclear, whereby the person who caused the accident is said to have been on the counter lane.
