Alcohol drivers are in danger and others - the police strike!

In Mayen, a 45-year-old driver was caught twice by the police within a few hours. The first incident occurred in the night of Saturday, around 1 a.m. The police carried out a traffic control after the woman was noticed by an unsafe driving style. During the breath alcohol measurement, it turned out that the driver was considerably alcoholic. As a result, a blood sample was taken, their car remained at the control location and the vehicle key was ensured.

About three hours later, around 4 a.m., the officers drove past the driver's living address and noticed that she parked her car there. Since it was still significantly under the influence of alcohol, a blood sample was taken again. The police also secured the second key of the vehicle. The measures were carried out in accordance with the applicable legal provisions on traffic safety, as reported.

legal regulations on alcohol and drug control

In traffic controls, the police have the authority to order drug tests or alcohol tests. The police can order these tests without a judicial decision if there is suspicion of drug or alcohol abuse. Alcohol tests measure the breath alcohol concentration, and a blood sample is required from a value of over 0.5 per thousand. Blut tests are the only method that is recognized as evidence in court. Positive drug tests can result in consequences such as the license withdrawal, fines and points in Flensburg.
